Capturing the colours of your life

This project isn't about colour theory it's all about discovery!
We are going to discover the colours/colors of your life...
Discovery always starts with questions;
  • Do you have some favourite colours?
  • If you look in your wardrobe do certain colours dominate?
  • What about your toys, furnishings, books, favourite apps and games?
  • When you create a piece of art and craft do you notice consistent colour themes in your work?
Take a moment to ponder those questions and notice.
As you notice any patterns or colour themes write them down or sketch a  palette with some pencils.

I found a colour pattern in my life!
I noticed a lot of lime, deep red, hot oranges & cool greys. I started to notice how these colours were associated with different aspects of my life; the more serious activities introduced cooler tones and muted palettes whereas activities I associated with creativity and fun celebrated with bright vibrant themes.

Project:
We are going to use a fabulous app, Adobe Capture to create the digital colour palettes of your life.
You can download the app for IOS and Android HERE;
  • Step One:
Install the app
TIP: I recommend creating a Creative Cloud account for your family/classroom or each indvidual (13yrs+) so you can save your palettes in your own Creative Clouds libraries and use them in other creative apps in the Adobe Mobile Apps Family!
  • Step Two:
Use your device to collect some screenshots from your favourite games, apps,  loved books, completed projects or artwork etc
At home take photos of your clothes, furnishings, in other words all the items you explored when you first started making note of the colours in your life at the start of this activity.
  • Step Three:
Use the Adobe Capture app to generate some colour palettes from your captured images.
Please see my image at the top of the page for a simple visual "how to".
You can also access further tutorials and suggested activities for the Adobe Capture App HERE

When you look at the colour themes and palettes you create with this project you will get some exciting personal insights and hopefully it will encourage you to undertake some more creative exploration with the digtech tools available to you.
Over 1000 Creative Cloud tutorials are also available via a free IOS app!

Until next time, have fun (and get creative! Put the "a" back into STEM)
